Frequently asked questions
What makes a GIF big?
Frame count × frame size × colour detail. Halving the width cuts pixels to 25 %, and dropping every 2nd frame halves the rest — that is why scale and frame-skip matter most.
Will transparency be preserved?
Yes — transparent pixels are kept transparent when the GIF uses a transparent colour.
Can I also make a GIF bigger?
The tool only shrinks or keeps the current size; upscaling a GIF never adds quality.
Does it work with still GIFs?
Yes, single-frame GIFs are handled like images (usually you want the Image Compressor for those).
