Frequently asked questions
Which video formats can I use?
MP4 (H.264) works in every browser. WebM works in Chrome/Firefox/Edge. MOV and H.265/HEVC depend on your browser’s codecs (Safari handles them well, Chrome may not).
Why is my GIF so large?
GIF is a 1987 format with a 256-colour limit. Size grows with duration × frame rate × width. Cut the duration first, then lower fps, then reduce width — in that order.
How long can the video be?
There is no server limit, but GIFs get big fast. Keep clips under ~10 seconds and under 480 px wide for something shareable.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Frames are extracted and encoded by your browser. This is one of the few video-to-GIF tools where your video never leaves your computer.
Can I use the GIF commercially?
The tool adds no watermark and claims no rights — you keep whatever rights you have in the source video.
